Introduction
Every year many people are killed or injured whilst using ladders. This course aims to train persons on the correct erection and use of ladders.

Aims and Objectives
The course aims to provide training to meet the above requirements of: -
o The Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
o The Provision of Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
o The Construction (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations 1996

On completion of the training course, members will be able to: -

o Identify legal duties and responsibilities as required by the above Act and Regulations
o Carry out inspections and make entries in a statutory register
o Erect ladders in accordance with current legislation
o Provide training on the correct use of ladders.

• Accidents in construction operations “Construction blackspot”
• Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
• Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
• Construction Health Safety & Welfare Regulations 1996
• Safe systems of work
• Duties of manufacturers and suppliers
• Care and maintenance
• Safe erection and use of ladders
• Inspection of ladders
• Instructional techniques on training on the safe use of ladders.

Certification
Upon successfully passing this course, each delegate will be given a certificate of attendance.

This course is intended for workers whose work may involve exposure to a fall from height, whether in construction, maintenance, cleaning or access. Work sectors involved will include construction companies, the manufacturing sector, Housing Associations, Local Authorities and others.
