Construction Training Awards
Good news - Roger Pitchers the Chairman of the East of England Construction Training Group has been nominated for Business Development of the Year Award at the forthcoming East of England Construction Awards.

Roger has been in the Painting/Decorating business, working in the East of England area for the last 30 years. The company was set up, initially with Roger working for himself from home, doing painting and papering for domestic households.

Roger continued doing everything himself until he became too busy after a period of approximately five years when he began to sub-contract to local builders for general decorating work, to ease his own workload.

Apprenticeship Awards
Also Jack Eales from Roger Pitchers Painting Contractors Limited has been nominated for the East of England Construction Apprentice of the Year Award for 2007 - 2008.

Good luck to both Roger and Jack.

Group Details

Commonly requested training is scheduled quarterly and you will be notified of the courses planned. However, this training plan is accommodating and constantly being added to as members submit requests for additional training or planned courses on different days. Once a member, the group can either carry out a training needs analysis of your company, or if you are already aware of your training needs in both the short and long term, these can be communicated to me. Training can then be arranged specifically to suit you or if a course is set up for the benefit of all group members and it is relevant to your needs, I will contact you to offer spaces.

To achieve the best price for the members, I continually search for new providers or better deals from current providers. Many of the assessors operate a day rate charging system, so no matter how many delegates there are the price is the same. This often meant that companies either put the entire workforce on the same course to make it cost effective, but stopped ‘production’ or put fewer through and paid a higher price. By arranging training via the group, all delegate spaces are filled, where possible, by members. This allows you to send as few or as many people as needed and pay only for your proportion of the day rate.

Flexibility in timing of courses and location of the training is given great consideration when training is scheduled. Most courses can be arranged for evenings and/or weekends if the need arises and as close to the candidates’ homes, offices, sites, etc as possible, which reduces the amount of time and money spent on commuting.
